Sensational Lineup Headline Millbrae’s Totally Rockin’ “Last Blast of Summer”
Get ready: the greatest two days of music Millbrae has ever experienced is coming. Every Labor Day weekend, normally tranquil downtown Millbrae is transformed into the Bay Area’s entertainment hot spot for the city’s big annual shindig –– the Art & Wine Festival. The beat goes on at this year’s festival, September 1-2, with a wide-ranging musical mix –– performed on stage and street by ten big-name bands.
Be sure to wear your dancing shoes so you can thoroughly enjoy the incredible line-up of Bay Area talent. You’ll dance to an upbeat lineup featuring swing, soul, contemporary hits and old classics, rock, Mexican reggae, ‘80s and synth rock and rhythm & blues. While you admire the art and take in the sights, you’ll discover a variety of fantastic street musicians playing a range of styles from Spanish-influenced acoustic guitar, romantic acoustic guitar and mandolin and the Chapman Stick.
Saturday, September 1
Viva la Reve is a duo that brings together a mix of sultry country vocals with down home, high energy guitar and fiddle. Influenced by bands such as Chris Stapleton, the Eagles, and the Devil Makes Three, they have been compared to the Soggy Bottom Boys in the movie O' Brother Where Art Thou. Jacob Benning brings country roots vocals along with his high energy guitar playing and fiddle player Paz Del Rescate brings many years of Texas fiddle playing to this duo’s dynamic.
The Bay Area’s number one entertainment is East Bay Mudd. This dynamic nine piece band has been thrilling audiences and inspiring dancers all over the Bay Area for years with their upbeat and powerful take on Soul, Funk and R&B classics.
Illeagles is the Bay Area’s premier Eagles tribute band. In the true spirit of the word 'tribute', this group of seasoned players honors the spirit of the Eagles and keeps true to the essence of the musicianship and incredible song catalog honoring the Eagles' legacy.
Sunday, September 2
Patrón is one of the few Latin bands in the Bay Area that is on point in playing different styles of Latin music including Latin Jazz, Cha-Chas, Latin Rock, Mambo and old school R&B with a Latin twist! Patrón brings a solid driving percussion section, hair raising guitar licks, and a horn section reminiscent of Tower of Power and has shared stages with Bonnie Pointer of the Pointer Sisters, Pete Escovedo, Richard Bean (Mr. Suavecito), Malo, Shiela E. and Tower of Power!
Rock Steady SF plays an expansive song list from Old School to New School — R&B, Funk, Hip-Hop, Motown, Disco and Rock. This is one high caliber, high energy band filled with veteran players who will have you on your feet dancing and singing along.
Petty Theft is the Bay Area’s premiere Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers cover band. Since the band's inception in 2003, Petty Theft has been entertaining fans with their electrifying live show. Audiences everywhere know these classic radio hits and, when performed by Petty Theft, it sounds like you are hearing the real deal!
As you wander, taking in the incredible art and delicious libations, be sure to look out for these talented musicians who will be playing in various locations around the festival:
Soloist Bob Culbertson has been playing the Chapman Stick for 30 years and has sold over 100,000 albums. The intriguing 10 to 12-string instrument bears both guitar and bass elements. By tapping the strings, Culbertson creates vibrations that produce a captivating blend of melodies, bass and chords in the style of light jazz with folk and blues flavor.
John Clarke makes his beautiful, complex pieces look effortless. The truly gifted acoustic nylon-string guitar player plays charming, romantic old-world compositions influenced by Spanish and Latin American guitar.
Feel the love that only Italy can inspire with the romantic acoustic repertoire of HeartStrings Music. The fabulous duo, Al Fabrizio on mandolin and Hugo Wainzinger on guitar, have masterfully captured the essence of amore.
Saxophonist and arranger Stephen Dreyfuss plays Tenor and Baritone with a flair for technique, whether playing in Jazz, Pop or Blues settings. In addition to his instrumental artistry, Stephen enjoys composing songs and singing as well.
